Movies TV => African American Cinema => Comedy Pack of 12 Pieces Thin Exotic Yellowheart, Purpleheart, Padauk 1 Cheap Deals Outlet Pack of 12 Pieces Thin Exotic Yellowheart, Purpleheart, Padauk 1 Ranking TOP5 Friday VHS Editorial Reviews Product description VHS FORMAT. 91 minutes, color. Ice Cube is terrific in this raunchy, very funny comedy. Presents a lot of number 1 hits, including two full-length music videos from the soundtrack, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube himself. Co-stars the wonderful Chris Tucker. Amazon.com Friday is the rarest specimen of African American cinema: a 'hood movie refreshingly free of the semiseriousness and moralism of shoot 'em up soaps such as Boyz N the Hood, yet still true to the inner-city experience. Scripted by rapper Ice Cube, Friday is a no-frills tale of a typical day in the life of a pair of African American youth in South Central. Cube plays Craig, a frustrated teen who endures the ultimate humiliation: getting fired on his day off. Then unknown Chris Tucker plays Smokey, a marijuana-worshipping homeboy whose love for the green stuff lands him in predicament after predicament. Sitting on the stoop of Craig's rundown home, the two hilariously confront a kaleidoscopic array of gangbangers, weed dealers, crack heads, prostitutes, scheming girlfriends, and neighborhood bullies--all of whom, it should be noted, come off as sympathetic even as they are being caricatured, a true achievement in the crass, "booty call" environment of '90s African American comedy. --Ethan Brown we started from humble beginnings back in 2009 with a small shop in newyork and we’ve quickly grown to become the usa largest online store specialist. Friday is the classic comedy about one day in the life of Ice Cube as Craig and Chris Tucker as Smokey in Los Angeles. The story was co-written by Ice Cub and made by his production company. The movie was full of funny situations but was really driven by the characters.Right at the start you get a sense of what Craig’s life is like. He wakes up, makes a giant bowl of cereal but finds out there’s no milk. His dad tells him to put some water in it and eat it. Then his friend Smokey comes over and they spend the day out on the porch talking.Smokey is a perfect example of the characters that surround Craig. He’s always talking trash and trying to get high. There’s Deebo (Tiny Lister Jr) who is the bully of the neighborhood and takes whatever he wants. He’s a like a shark who everyone is scared of when he shows up. Ezal (Anthony Johnson) is a local crackhead who’s always asking for money. Their interactions is what makes the story. It's a great comedy about life in the hood.C This film is iconic. I won’t call it a classic yet because that would make me an old woman. I bought it to watch again recently during a movie marathon. I had to introduce a younger friend of mine to Smokey and Craig and Deebo and Ezal and Big Perm. For about five years of my life, I quoted this movie every day. Now just about once a week. This is a must see for any cinephile. Love love love this movie. It never gets old. Even named our ferret Felicia so we could say "Bye Felicia" to her. But I didn't. There's some funny parts for sure. These are the parts that made me want to watch this film in it's entirety all these years later. However, despite the few funny parts, I was bored. It moved pretty slow. I should have watched it when I was young? Maybe. If you've seen gifs of this film, I'm pretty sure you've seen all the parts worth watching.Friday is one of the more memorable 90's movies for those who were teens and early 20's during that time period (90's). I don't want to give away story information, but the director's cut gives you a little more information to help you understand the situation better, but I believe it takes away from the movie. I have to agree with some other reviews. This is one of those movies that people memorize the lines too, and then say to each other at different times for a laugh, or to explain a situation. The Director's cut does have some nice extra information, but if I could only own one version, I would definitely chose the original theatrical version. This movie is a good choice if you already own the original, and are curious to see another 109 minutes of information. The added footage is more informational, than added to make it funnier.Setup to take full advantage of a erfect storm of 90s slacker culture zeitgeist. However, for a comedy it's relentlessly unfunny and any thing poignant is lost in a sea of flat, stilted performances. Taken against the whole of cinema its nothing particularly special despite two decades of being told "It's important," Why? No one can say for sure.Movie is BAD. And the lip-sync with Amazon digital download was way off. Will not purchase from Amazon again. Have 70" Samsung, great WiFi speeds, so it's a Amazon App issue. I LOVE the original Friday. The director's cut is very different... So many of the iconic lines that I love to quote are completely different in this cut of the film. It can be kind of hard to find the original of this film now.... Buy this one  4 Film Favorites: Ice Cube (All About the Benjamins, Friday, Next Friday, Friday After Next) ! New item
